Released in 2015 via Metal Blade Records, Crypt of the Devil is the eleventh studio album from the American death metal veterans Six Feet Under.
The album features the signature "death-and-roll" groove that the band is known for, fronted by the iconic guttural vocals of Chris Barnes (formerly of Cannibal Corpse). For this specific recording, Barnes collaborated with members of the band Cannabis Corpse (Phil Hall, Josh Hall, and Brandon Ellis), resulting in a sound that blends the band’s traditional mid-tempo chugging with technical riffs and melodic solos.
Lyrically, the album stays true to Barnes' classic gore-focused themes, written largely from the dark perspective of a serial killer. The artwork and disc design feature a swampy, macabre forest scene and the band's distinctive "6" spiral logo.
